A truly wonderful day out! Our guides, Megi and Radi, were incredibly engaging and dynamic throughout the entire adventure. They adapted perfectly to the group's pace during the mountain hike. I bought from Get Your Guide app this excursion to Rila Monastery and to Ivan Rilsky cave and i honestly didn't expect a so adventurous experience climbing through a narrow passage to the cave. I am very happy with this new memory I built. I appreciated the guide skills (Vely) and the punctuality of all the journey starting from the picking up just in front of my hotel. i just wished that when booking i had the options to book both the excursion to the cave and the entrance to the boyana church, and not just one of them, considering the stop at both was anyway foreseen.

My sister and I booked a trip to the 7 Rila Lakes with Traventuria, on the 9th of June and it was fantastic. Our guide, Megi (Angelova), was absolutely brilliant — incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and an excellent communicator in both Bulgarian and English. She took great care of everyone in the group and managed to cater to all needs and preferences.
The group was mixed in age and fitness levels, and Megi was the perfect gauge of the pace, making sure the experience worked for all. She was so encouraging and got us safely to the top and back, even with the slightly tricky conditions.
Our driver was also warm, friendly, and added to the positive experience.
Overall, the whole trip was just brilliant — well worth the achy muscles afterwards. I highly recommend Traventuria and especially Megi!

We've taken two excursions in Bulgaria with them—my wife, my daughter, and I—to Plovdiv and the Rila Monastery. A fantastic experience, narrated in both Spanish and English. Let's start with the positive points: Hristo is the perfect guide. Hristo is a great guide! He’s not one of those robotic, cold guides who only give basic information, he explains everything in detail and adds fun facts that help you remember the history of the places. Also, a big thank you to Rosen, who drove us safely from Sofia to Rila and back. Five stars to both of them for their great company! 🌟
The only negative point (and the reason why I gave 4 stars) is that the bus is not comfortable. If you think Ryanair seats are bad, this bus will actually make you miss them. There’s less place for legs, so if you’re taller than 1.75–1.80m, having 3-4 hour ride is a real challenge. There are no charging ports for your phone and no toilet either (not the end of the world, but it would have been a nice bonus). Traventuria could consider upgrading this bus for a more comfortable travel experience.
Overall, I highly recommend this tour if you are in Sofia and want to discover these beautiful heritage sites! 🙂

I had a wonderful time on the tour of Plovdiv and Koprivshtitsa. It was a lot of walking on cobblestone type streets and it was very hilly but very worthwhile. Our tour guide Martin was knowledgeable and flexible (when he could be flexible) and his English was excellent. The photo shows Martin at the model Roman Amphitheatre telling us about the fights between gladiators and chained wild beasts.

Last year, I went on a tour of The Seven Rila Lakes with this agency. I was delighted with the guide and the professional organization. This year, I went to the Rila Monastery with Boyana Church. Our guide, Hristo, was fantastic, his stories were interesting and engaging; without him, it would be difficult to appreciate these UNESCO World Heritage gems. It's worth booking directly on their website to guarantee entry to the Boyana Church, which can be visited by a maximum of 10 people at a time.

Although he wasn't actually responsible for bookings and the other employees had already finished for the day, he took care of us in a friendly and enthusiastic manner, explained everything in detail, and registered us for the trip.
The next day, we were picked up right near our hotel.
The bus driver and the tour guide were also very friendly and attentive. During our conversation with the tour guide, we learned that the nice man was actually the director of the company; we hadn't met him by chance.
It was a wonderful and unforgettable trip with very warm, professional, and dedicated staff.

Great and funny animator for the rila monastery tour and Saint Ivan ́s cave. I usually don’t like guided visits but I don’t regret booking this one. Martin, the guide, took our group to various sites in and near the Valley of the Roses and offered interesting and helpful information to help us understand the places. I really appreciated his use of visual aids to explain past historical events. He also allowed us ample time for independent exploration of the sites. For being such a long tour, it didn’t feel long. We booked a day trip to the Rila Monastery and the Church of Boyana. Not only are these UNESCO sites worthwhile, but so is the beautiful scenery along the way. Our guide, Todor, did not limit himself to explanations at the monuments but also shared a lot of information about Bulgarian history and culture with us along the way, delivered with good pacing and the necessary humor—very enjoyable. Everything was also well organized and communicated in terms of practical aspects. The only downside: Bulgarian buses are for short people… Fortunately, the breathtaking content compensated for this practical inconvenience of the trip.

Really awesome experience. Our tour guide (Martin) was very patient, helpful, and informative. It’s a great way to see a portion of Bulgaria I wouldn’t have been able to get to otherwise, and so much of the history and nuance of Plovdiv and the Thracian tomb would have gone completely unappreciated. Today we went on a day trip to Plovdiv, Starosel, and Staro Zhelezare. It was a complete success thanks to our guide, Ani, who explained everything so well. She made it really enjoyable and fun. The church of Boyana is beautiful on itself, but the monastery and cave are something different with the outstanding paintings and the special story of hermit St John/Ivan. Make sure you book the whole package, otherwise you’ll have to wait a bit longer or won’t be able to visit the church (which is a great loss)

A wonderful excursion: the monastery and the small church are nestled in a spectacular setting. The beauty of the excursion is also greatly enhanced by the guide, Lubo. He is extremely knowledgeable, passionate about his work, proud of his country, and manages to convey all his enthusiasm when you admire the sights. He speaks universal English, easily understandable even for those who aren't very familiar with it. He's truly talented!

It was clear how knowledgeable and passionate she was in sharing the history of Sofia, Rila Monastery, and Bulgaria in general.

She was always available, clear, and very knowledgeable, truly able to convey the historical and spiritual importance of this wonderful place near Sofia.
The climb to the Rila Cave of St. John was also beautiful, a suggestive place immersed in nature.

The trip to Plovdiv was very nice and our guide was super friendly. Unfortunately, the departure was delayed by 20 minutes and the meeting point was difficult to find (description/signage). The stop in the mountain village could have been omitted... The bus was comfortable.

A practical tour to visit two cities that are difficult to reach independently from Sofia! Our guide, Todor, was friendly and extremely welcoming as we learned about the history of the cities and his beloved country! Excellent experience from start to finish - SUPER friendly and welcoming staff, efficient process, good equipment.

Hristos is devoted and extremely knowledgeable about Bulgarian history and specific little interesting stories around big and small events that he convoys with big joy! I highly recommend the team of guide Svet and driver Asen. Svet introduced us to many interesting aspects of the main attractions on our route (our destination – the Rila Monastery). We also received some information about Bulgaria itself and its capital. Asen took us to our destination without any problems. The trip was quick and comfortable. Two magnificent places nestled in the mountains! A must-see! Pieter (bus driver) and Christopher (EN guide) gave us a fantastic day. We learned a lot of new things about the history and the art. A new artist was learned who created more than 100 years before the Mona Lisa a fresco that follows you. Highly recommended to visit the cave as well and keep in mind it is a hike/mountain trail with rocks.

A wonderful experience. My friends and I (six of us in total) chose the tour of Rila Monastery, Boyana Church, and St. John's Cave. Rila Monastery absolutely thrilled us all, but reaching the cave can be a challenge for some, as it involves a 10-minute hike along a mountain trail. Our guide, Svet, along with Sergii (our efficient and experienced driver), demonstrated truly exceptional professionalism, knowledge, and helpfulness, allowing us to fully enjoy this beautiful day.

Everything was perfectly organised from start to finish.I booked online easily, Borovets to Sofia city center, and the process was clear and quick. They guided me properly before departure, providing clear instructions and accurate information about the pickup location. Stay away from this company. We accidentally bought 5 bus tickets online instead of 3, and they refused to refund the money for the two extra tickets. Then, when we boarded the bus, the seats we had overpaid for were, strangely enough, occupied. So never buy from them, CRIMINALS!!!

We had an unforgettable winter hike with Traventuria to the Seven Rila Lakes, led by our excellent tour leader Yordan. Despite very snowy and challenging weather conditions, the tour was extremely well managed and felt safe and enjoyable throughout.
Because of the deep snow and winter conditions, we managed to visit 4 of the 7 lakes, which was absolutely the right call. Yordan’s judgment and experience really showed here — safety was always the top priority, without taking away from the adventure or the sense of achievement. The hike took around 4 hours and was demanding but incredibly rewarding.
Yordan was professional, supportive, and encouraging the entire time, making sure everyone in the group was comfortable and coping well with the conditions. He shared useful information about the area and kept a great pace given the weather, while maintaining a positive and motivating attitude.
If you’re looking for a well-organized winter hike with experienced guides who genuinely care about the group, I highly recommend Traventuria — and especially Yordan. It was a challenging but memorable experience and one of the highlights of our trip.

Don’t pay for entry to the church on ‘Get your guide’ as it won’t get you in, you have to pay on the tour.

i had a wonderful day with traventuria travels. svet the guide is so accomodating and friendly. catering the needs of the guest. and peter the driver ensures everyone was comfortable and ensuring the safety of every guest. both are friendly and i highly recommend their services. good job guys! well, i had another booked tour tomorrow in plovdiv and hopefully it will be a great experience too.

this tour company, Traventuria, is super professional & offers seamless tours at economical prices. Having travelled to many countries in Europe, it’s my first experience that they offer a real tour guide, plus an audio smart guide. The smart guide, which they sent out the previous evening, is so useful to help us prepare for the journey. It gives very comprehensive information about the history, background, details of the sites, local visit recommendations, general lifestyle, etc. We can pre-listen & study all information at our leisure time, or on the bus, & don’t have to fumble with listening on the clumsy device or on cell phones while busy taking pictures. My tour was on 24 Oct, which was really special, as there was non-stop heavy thunderstorm, the whole time we were in Veliko Tarnovo, at one point, there was severe windstorm & hailstones for 15 minutes. our guide Martin was especially lively & with good humor to keep the group in good spirits, despite everyone was soaked from head to tail. It was really a unique experience. Although all photos are dark & grey, & I missed some sights due to the rain. Martin is really nice & takes care of everyone. The driver is very good & the van is big & comfortable with only 6 guests.

We had a tour to Plovdiv today, we met at 8:45 and the bus left at 9:00 AM. Our tour guide Maria was very nice and knowledgeable. She gave us the history of Plovdiv and pointed out places of historical value as we were leaving Sofia. We opted for the guided tour which was just enough to get a nice overview. After the guided tour we had about 2 hours of free time enough to have lunch and do a little shopping. Overall great tour.
