Pottery & Nature Day Tour from Sofia to Busintsi and Tran Region
Busintsi, Bulgaria
A Day Trip into Bulgaria's Ancient Pottery Heritage
Discover the "Path of Clay" in Busintsi, one of Bulgaria’s most storied ceramic centers. Located just one hour and a half from Sofia along the scenic road to Tran. This hidden gem offers a unique glimpse into an ancient craft that has thrived from Thracian and Roman times to the present day.
The village is renowned for its authentic pottery with its distinctive artistic style. At its peak, it was home to over 300 pottery wheels, creating beautiful, earthy-toned vessels that now grace prestigious collections in the Louvre, the Museum of Mankind in Paris, and private galleries across the USA and Russia.
In 1895, Busintsi established the first pottery school in Bulgaria - a tradition that gave rise to three distinct ceramic movements in the country.
Today, this living heritage is kept alive and waiting for you to discover it.
