Know Before You Go

Dress Code: The Rila Monastery is at 1150 m (3770 ft) a.s.l. Dress according to the season & the weather forecast. Don’t forget your umbrella.
There is a strict DRESS CODE at the Monastery. Shoulders and knees MUST be covered. High heels are NOT acceptable!
Cash or Card: Kindly note that payment by credit/debit cards is possible for the Boyana Church entrance and the History Museum of Rila Monastery.
Payment by credit/debit card, however, is not possible at the dining places in the area; therefore, we strongly recommend bringing Bulgarian leva in cash with you.
Please note that there are no ATMs along the route, nor in the Monastery area.
Food: Bring your snacks § a bottle of water! Dining options in the area are limited & service could be rather slow.

09:00 Private Sofia Hotel Pickup

Meet your private driver and guide at your accommodation and enjoy a smooth, scenic drive south along the Struma highway.

11:00 Guided Exploration of Rila Monastery

Arrive at the UNESCO monastery. Enjoy a personalized guided walk through the main church, the historical museum, and the hidden architectural corners without any rush.

Rila Monastery Museum entry ticket is not included (appr 4€ pp)

12:00 - 13:30 Free time for lunch or further explorations of the area on your own

Enjoy some free time for lunch at one of the cozy restaurants near the monastery, where you can try local specialties such as mekitsi (traditional Bulgarian fried dough made with yogurt) or freshly grilled trout.

14:00 - Winery Premium Experience

After approximately 35-40 minutes' drive from the monastery, arrive at the beautiful winery estate. Step into the quiet, magical barrel room for a "Following the Steps of Wine" tasting session of 3 select wines elegantly paired with cocktail bites, mineral water, and breadsticks, paired with artisanal bread, olive oil, and local grissini.

A vineyard terroir walk and an informative discussion on The Essentials of Wine Tasting are also included in the package.
